Hey, I’m Derron
CrashLoopBackOff is just a starting point.
Senior DevOps and SRE engineer with 11+ years building and operating infrastructure at scale — currently focused on government cloud applications, FedRAMP compliance, and the infrastructure patterns that make distributed systems actually reliable.
By day I work on EKS clusters, Aurora PostgreSQL, and multi-account AWS deployments. By night I run a homelab with a 3-node Proxmox cluster (100 vCPUs, 564GB RAM, 61TB storage) that I use to test, learn, and occasionally break things in ways that would be catastrophic in production.
What I Write About
- Homelab infrastructure — Proxmox, TrueNAS, Kubernetes, networking
- Infrastructure as Code — Terraform, Terragrunt, GitOps patterns
- Cloud engineering — AWS, EKS, RDS, GovCloud specifics
- CI/CD — GitLab pipelines, deployment patterns, automation
- SRE practices — Monitoring, alerting, incident response, reliability
The Stack
Crashloop is built with Hugo, deployed via a GitLab CI/CD pipeline to Cloudflare Pages. Posts are written in Markdown and managed in Obsidian — push to main and the pipeline handles the rest.
